Today is our favourite day of the week. We get to keep sharing the faces behind the unparalleled one-of-a-kind SNOWCLEARED team members! (No, we aren’t biased!) We wanted to continue introducing you to the people who make this work possible. Who makes this team run? Today we wanted to introduce you to, Taylan Kornelsen.

Read along as we took a few minutes to ask Taylan a few questions about his time with SNOWCLEARED! Taylan’s personality shines through in all these questions and we can’t wait for you to enjoy them as much as we did!

How did I first hear of SNOWCLEARED?

I first heard of SNOWCLEARED through a mutual friend that was doing some painting at my house. We got to chatting about stuff…one of those items being plowing snow. I had always wanted to get into the business as I thought it would be a fun venture to take on. Long story short, I was very interested and he gave me Rob’s number. I’ve now been with the company now for 4 seasons!

When did you join the team?

I joined December of 2016. I’ve been with the team for four seasons now.

What are you responsible for?

My duties include de icing and plowing sites such as town house complexes, strata buildings, warehouses strip malls, and large grocery store buildings/parking lots. I also do site inspections.

What do you love most about this job?

Oh man...... what don’t I love about this job! I’ll be honest it sometimes can be quite stressful, especially when your equipment breaks down in the middle of a snow storm…which has happened my fair share of times. The best part about this job is that anything can happen on any given night and it keeps things interesting.

You just have to adapt and keep a positive attitude…and the nights just fly by. People always think I’m crazy working crazy long nights but I love being out there. It’s just something different than what I normally do.

Rob is also a fantastic boss to work for. He’s a great guy, down to earth with a good sense of humour. He cares about his guys and is always looking for better ways to improve the company and make things more efficient.

What is the most challenging aspect of the job?

It can definitely be quite stressful during the crazy snow storms. I call myself a perfectionist, so when it’s pouring down snow and you know all the plowing passes are going to get covered up in a matter of minutes afterwards…well, it makes me cringe. But you just gotta do the best you can and move on and then come back to that site later.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to folks in the market for snow and de-icing service?

Don’t wait till last minute; get organized months in advance before the winter season starts. Each year is different so it’s hard to predict how much cold weather or snow we get. That said, I’ve been working with SNOWCLEARED for four years now and every year we’ve had a few crazy snow storms. Trust me, they can throw a wrench into everything!!

Says Rob, “Taylan is a man of great character. When there’s a problem, he promptly addresses it, takes responsibility for it, and offers a solution. He then asks how we (company leadership) would like to have it handled. Then he takes care of biz. That kind of character is hard to find. He’s quick to adapt, keeps a clear head, and lends a steady hand until the task is complete. He gives 100 to every client and clears each location with laser like precision and commitment. We couldn’t be more grateful for team members like Taylan who make the SNOWCLEARED organization what it is today!”

Our team wouldn’t be what it is without you, Taylan! Stay tuned for our next feature!
