Keeping Up On The Cool

Rob Thibault

In order to provide excellent, down to the minute service for our customers, TBO's Snow & Ice Management team are glued to the thermometer. Through the winter months you will find us committed to our temperature tracking devices, seeking out the most reliable weather reports and temperature predictions to ensure that our clients are receiving the best possible care.

But it wasn't always so easy to measure temperature. Throughout history, temperature has been measured in a variety of creative ways, including but not limited to: an invention by Galileo that involved a glass bulb and long tube, mercury and alcohol thermometers in the eighteenth century, thermometers composed of sensitive metals in the nineteenth century, and even circuit sensors. Those whose livelihoods depend on the change of temperature have sworn by the Farmer’s Almanac to predicate the seasons ahead. Some still do!

Here at TBO's Snow & Ice Management, we make use of a number of tools that technology has given us to keep up – down to the minute! - on the temperature so we can know when to be right at your door, salting, brining, or just plain clearing!

Do you have our On Call Package? Are you looking for the best ways to be informed on the latest temperature changes and weather updates? Check out 3 of our favourite apps and resources!

  1. Nooly → Developed by American and European weather scientists, this free android app makes use of cutting edge technology and algorithms in order to provide users with to the minute predictions formerly only available to FAA, NASA and other Federal agencies.

  2. The Weather Network → This online weather tracker is a classic tool, allowing us to gain anywhere from a 36 hour forecast to a one month perspective on weather trends.

  3. Ok, ok...we also refer to the Farmer’s Almanac. → Developed by Robert B. Thomas, in 1792, this storied handbook makes use of solar science, climatology, and meteorology to make surprisingly consistent long-range weather predictions.

Be prepared for winter's surprises, and let us help you have liability-free peace of mind.
